  • Medical grade heavy duty vinyl fabric which allows for easy cleaning and longer life of the table surface. The vinyl fabric is designed to inhibit hardening and breakdown of the PVC surface due to perspiration and oils, it is also fire -retardant, sanitised and stain resistant.
  • Exam tables such as the ABCO 2 Section Examination Couch include a minimum height of 45cm which makes it suitable for disabled or elderly access.
  • Retractable wheels, meaning movement of the examination table is made easy without compromising stability.
  • Upholstered Cot sides which are an optional feature attachable to ABCO’s 2 section Examination Couches. A side barrier fixed to the table, they provide extra security for patients.
  • Lithotomy Knee Supports which are also an optional feature attachable to ABCO’s examination couches. What is a doctor's examination table called?

Examination tables go by a number of names including medical exam table, examination table, procedure table, treatment table, examination couch, patient examination bed.

What is the difference between two section and three section couches?

Both two section and three section exam tables serve the same purpose, to provide a comfortable support for patients during treatment. The difference between them lies within their design.

Two section tables are ergonomically sized to provide more flexibility in use compared to a table without adjustability. The backrest section of the table can be adjusted independently of the fixed section, which means that patients can be positioned flat on the table for examination or can sit upright at an adjustable angle, depending on the need at the time.

A three-section table provides even more added comfort and flexibility with a central fixed section and two independently controllable sections; the head section, the seat/back rest section and the foot section. The short section can be used as a head rest or footrest and the long section as a backrest or leg support depending on the requirements at the time.

Three section examination tables are a great option for medical facilities that need a versatile and adaptable examination table. They are particularly useful in settings where patients have different needs or require specialised examination positions. For example, in physical therapy clinics, the three-section table can be adjusted to accommodate patients who are recovering from injuries or surgeries. In gynaecological or urological clinics, the table can be positioned to make the examination process more comfortable for the patient. They are also popular in paediatrics clinics as they can be adjusted to suit the size of children and to make the examination process less intimidating for them. Overall, three section examination tables are a versatile and necessary piece of equipment in any medical facility where patient comfort, flexibility of use and safety are priorities.
